I'm referring to his famous sermon ';Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God';.If eternal torment is a false doctrine, why did God use Jonathon Edward's sermon to bring many to Christ ?
Eternal torment is NOT a false doctrine. Those who profess false doctrine are subject to eternal torment. If eternal torment is a false doctrine, why did God use Jonathon Edward's sermon to bring many to Christ ?
1) fear is powerful
2) you don't know it's a false doctrine until you study the bible ...
It is not a false doctrine and, obviously, Jonathan Edwards had the knack to get over that message with huge impact. Everyone should read that sermon. It is tremendous. I have it in a very small book but it is available online, free.
God had nothing to do with it.....Jonathon Edwards, like many of the preachers today, have been deceived by ';Satan, the father of lies';....'; Satan deceives the whole world'; (Rev 12:9). There is no ';eternal torment'; suffering in the burning flames of hell for eternity. The Bible does not teach this false doctrine. I'm sure he was quite an influential figure with his powerful sermons. I would tend to believe that with his natural charisma combined with his ';hell fire'; sermon, not God, that convinced the people that they should accept Jesus Christ, or be tormented forever in the burning flames of hell. If this is true, then it was probably a false conversion........Here is some literature backed up by scripture that will show you how silly the false doctrine really is.
