Why do Jehovah's Witnesses floow the false doctrine of not voting or being involved in the political process?

1Cor 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

HMMMM

God set forth in His Church the gifts of....Governments

Hmmmmm

Hmmmmm

But they tell all of us that Jehovah want us to NOT participate.

Hmmmmm

So a religious group tells us something diametrically opposed to scripture and claims it is God's message.

Hmmmmm

What say ye?Why do Jehovah's Witnesses floow the false doctrine of not voting or being involved in the political process?
Apparently you don't have the slightest idea what you're talking about.

1 Corinthians 12:28 reads this way: ';And God has set the respective ones in the congregation, first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then powerful works; then gifts of healings; helpful services, abilities to direct, different tongues.';

There's nothing even remotely in that verse that says God's people are to have any involvement in political affairs.

We support governments only in matters in which their directions do not conflict with God's law. We pay our taxes, we fill out whatever required forms are necessary, etc...etc....but our allegiance is to God and his Kingdom, not to the government we happen to fall under on earth.

- Clearly you are a liar, and a full-fledged member of the ignorant anti-JW cult trolling these boards. Please grow up.Why do Jehovah's Witnesses floow the false doctrine of not voting or being involved in the political process?
Jehovah's Witnesses follow the doctrine that they have come to believe is the truth. If choosing not to vote or be involved in politics is part of what they believe, why does that bother you? I think that the Amish are also non-voting and not political, as well. Each person is permitted to make his own choices and that includes the choice to choose the religion which suits their beliefs. Maybe they will change their minds at some point if they find something which convinces them that they have been mistaken in what they believe. All religions have some truth and many have things that are not accepted by other churches or religions. You have to have a relationship with God and faith in what you believe (if, in fact, God is a part of your faith.) We are taught not to judge others but to love them despite our differences and live by example so that they may be persuaded. You can't make someone else have your faith, they have to develop their own.
The primitive Christians did not participate in Politics. Note; Early Christianity was little understood and was regarded with little favor by those who ruled the pagan world ..... Christians refused to share certain duties of Roman citizens ..... They would not hold political office. ( On the Road to Civilization, A world History A.Heckel and J. Sigman pp. 237,238 ) ............ ';The Christians stood aloof and distinct from the state, as a priestly and spiritual race, and Christianity seemed able to influence civil life only in that manner which, it must be confessed, is the purest, by practically endeavouring to instil more and more of holy feelings into the citizens of the state. ( The History of the Christian Religion and Church. During the first three centuries.)
Hmmmmm

Using the King James Version, huh?

Kybenesis, the Greek word translated as ';governments'; here in the KJV doesn't literally mean ';governments.'; It literally means ';steering.'; It should be translated ';administration,'; or ';ability to lead.';
in defense it is very biblical not to get involved in politics.

it is clearly written

and what you supply as doctrines has nothing to do with being active in politics even in this constitutional freedom.

it is good to be involved until people start assinating you. like martin luther king jr. or joseph smith jr. once they started taking their religion to the white house or become a highly visible preacher of righteousness, they also become targets for the wicked and those that are religiously incorrect but have taken unto themselve to kill in the name of god.

p.s. the prophecy says ';they think they do God a favor';
I'm just impressed that people like yourself can hold yourself up as being the arbiters of what qualifies as ';false doctrine';, based on a book that's been interpreted, re-interpreted, translated and re-translated about 5000 times over the last 2000 years. Prideful much?

P.S. ';Hmmmmmmm';
The Bible was written when democracy was not invented. So if they choose not to vote, it's TECHNICALLY okay. All in all, why do you care if they vote or not?

I know many regular people who don't vote because they don't want to...
Jesus was no part of the world of politics at that time..and we are no part of the worlds politics of our time....

We are to render to the superior authorities respect and honor and to pay taxes. And to obey God as ruler when it conflicts with man.

Satan rules this wicked world..and we want no part of being in submission to him.
you asked this before: same question, same answer.

now, why have you not responded to MY email to YOU?

we need to discuss many issues, this being one.

thanks
Leave them alone. Nobody wants them to vote.
i've been told they have their own god and they do not believe in the flag or the 4th of july
Why back a process that is destined for destruction?

(Daniel 2:44) “And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite;

We are witnesses for this kingdom, not any man-made one.

Since you are so sure it is a 'False Doctrine' perhaps you could quote where the command was given by Jesus to either run for office, or to vote for a political figure.

Jesus, when he was given the opportunity to rule in his time turned it down.

(John 6:15) Therefore Jesus, knowing they were about to come and seize him to make him king, withdrew again into the mountain all alone.
We are footstep followers of Christ.

He was no part of the world, so we are to be no part of the world.

“I request you, not to take them out of the world, but to watch over them because of the wicked one. 16 They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.

John 17:16

13 But now I am coming to you, and I am speaking these things in the world in order that they may have my joy in themselves to the full. 14 I have given your word to them, but the world has hated them, because they are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.

John 17:13, 14

Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; 16 because everything in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life—does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. 17 Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever.

1John 2:15-17

Are you refering to Jesus as a false teacher? It is his sayings we follow and teach. That is our doctrine and our backing here in black and white.

We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one.

1John 5:19

I don't serve the God of this world, his governments or religions. I serve Jehovah, the only true God.
Oh for the love of all that's holy, are you at it again ';athorgarak';? Just waiting for someone to come along who agrees with what you ALREADY believe that will ';tickle your ears'; are you?

It is even as it was written:

';For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories.';

- 2 Timothy 4:3, 4

This seems to be a ';pattern'; developing with you ';athorgarak';, however, you can see from the comment I left in the person who's answer you chose as best answer (a bonafide opposer of Jehovah's Witnesses mind you) that I and many others are on to what your trying to do as located here :

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…

However, again, for the sake of any SINCERE ONES who want the Biblical TRUTH as to WHY we do not vote and or get involved in poltics, I as one of Jehovah's modern-day Christian Witnesses will be honored to supply.

There is something which is hindering human efforts in the field of human government/politics to bring about true peace and security for all, what is it? Let's let God's Word the Bible explain:

Jeremiah 10:23:

“I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”

God DID NOT authorize his human creation to chart its own path independent from God.

Genesis 8:21:

“The inclination of the heart of man is bad from his youth up.”

Not only THE RULERS but also THOSE RULED are ALL born in sin, with SELFISH inclinations.

2 Timothy 3:1-4:

“In the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, . . . not open to any agreement, . . . puffed up with pride.”

The problems facing mankind today cannot be lastingly solved by just one nation; they require complete international cooperation. But selfish interests prevent that and also seriously hinder any real cooperation among the various organizations within nations.

The Bible also reveals that SUPERHUMAN FORCES are manipulating the affairs of men.

“The WHOLE WORLD is lying in the power of the wicked one [Satan the Devil].”

- 1 John 5:19

“We have a wrestling, not against blood and flesh, but against . . . the world rulers of this darkness, against the wicked spirit forces in the heavenly places.”

- Ephesians 6:12

“Expressions INSPIRED BY DEMONS . . . go forth to the kings of the entire inhabited earth [political rulers], to gather them together to the war of the great day of God the Almighty.”

— Revelation 16:14

Will putting other men in office solve the problem (many seem to think so)?

Is it not true that where there are free elections, the men in power are usually voted out of office in a relatively few years? Why? A majority are NOT satisfied with their performance. However, The Bible (NOT The Watchtower) tells us:

Psalms 146:3, 4:

“DO NOT put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs. His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; in that day his thoughts do perish.”

So, ANY programs for betterment that political rulers institute soon pass into the hands of others and are frequently abandoned. Besides that, NO MATTER WHO THE POLITICAL RULER IS (and or however noble his intentions truly are), he will still be PART of this world that lies in Satan’s power and NO imperfect human poltical ruler has the power to get rid of him and his demon horde.... as long as THEY exist, humans will NEVER obtain true peace and security because they simply won't allow it.

The problems that NEED to be resolved require POWER, ABILITIES, and QUALITIES that no imperfect human possess. God Almighty can free mankind from the influence of the Devil and his demons, and He has PROMISED to do so, but NO imperfect human can. God has made provision to do what medical science could NEVER accomplish—REMOVE sin, thus ENDING sickness and death and making it possible for people to be the kind of persons that they REALLY want to be. The Creator has the needed knowledge (of the earth and of all life processes) to SOLVE the problems of food production and to prevent dangerous pollution, but IMPERFECT HUMAN EFFORTS often create more problems. God’s Word is ALREADY transforming lives so that those who respond to its leading become KIND, LOVING PERSONS with HIGH MORALS, a society of persons who REFUSE to take up arms against their fellowman and who live in GENUINE peace and BROTHERHOOD although they are from all nations, races, and language groups.

The following Scriptures have a bearing on the attitude of true Christians toward the authority of secular governments:

Romans 13:1, 5-7:

“Let every soul be in subjection to the superior authorities [governmental rulers], for there is no authority except by God . . . There is therefore compelling reason for you people to be in subjection, not only on account of that wrath but also on account of your conscience. . . . Render to all their dues, to him who calls for the tax, the tax; to him who calls for the tribute, the tribute; to him who calls for fear, such fear; to him who calls for honor, such honor.”

NO government could exist WITHOUT GOD'S PERMISSION. Regardless of the conduct of individual officials, true Christians have shown them RESPECT because of the office they occupied. For example, regardless of the use that governments have made of tax money, worshipers of Jehovah God have made honest payment of their taxes in return for those services from which EVERYONE could benefit.

Mark 12:17:

“Jesus then said: ‘Pay back Caesar’s things to Caesar, but God’s things to God.’”

So true Christians have ALWAYS recognized that they must not only “pay back” money in the form of taxes to the secular government but ALSO fulfill the SUPERIOR obligations they have toward God.

Acts 5:28, 29:

“[A spokesman for the Jewish high court] said: ‘We positively ordered you [the apostles] not to keep teaching upon the basis of this name [of Jesus Christ], and yet, look! you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you are determined to bring the blood of this man upon us.’ In answer Peter and the other apostles said: ‘We must obey God as ruler rather than men.’”

When there has been a DIRECT CONFLICT between the COMMANDS of imperfect human rulers and the REQUIREMENTS of God, true Christians have imitated the example of the apostles by putting OBEDIANCE TO GOD FIRST... NO MATTER WHAT COUNTRY THEY MAY RESIDE IN.

The following Scriptures have ALWAYS had a bearing on the attitude of true Christians toward involvement in political issues and activities:

John 17:16:

“They are no part of the world, just as I [Jesus] am no part of the world.”

John 6:15:

“Jesus, knowing they [the Jews] were about to come and seize him to make him king [a political ruler on earth], withdrew again into the mountain all alone.”

Later, he told the Roman governor:

“My kingdom IS NO PART OF THIS WORLD. If my kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have fought that I should not be delivered up to the Jews. But, as it is, my kingdom is not from this source.”

— John 18:36.

James 4:4:

“Adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God.”

Why is the matter SO SERIOUS? Because, as 1 John 5:19 says, “THE WHOLE WORLD is lying in the power of the wicked one.” At John 14:30, Jesus referred to SATAN as being “the ruler of the world.” So, no matter what worldly faction a person might support, under whose control would he really come? Satan the Devils!

Regarding POLITICAL INVOLVEMENT, what do SECULAR HISTORIANS report as being the ATTITUDE of those known as early Christians? The following reports:

“Early Christianity was little understood and was regarded with little favor by those who ruled the pagan world. . . . Christians refused to share certain duties of Roman citizens. . . . They would not hold political office.”

— On the Road to Civilization, A World History (Philadelphia, 1937), A. Heckel and J. Sigman, pp. 237, 238.

“The Christians stood aloof and distinct from the state, as a priestly and spiritual race, and Christianity seemed able to influence civil life only in that manner which, it must be confessed, is the purest, by practically endeavouring to instil more and more of holy feeling into the citizens of the state.”

— The History of the Christian Religion and Church, During the Three First Centuries (New York, 1848), Augustus Neander, translated from German by H. J. Rose, p. 168.

Has the Scriptural neutrality of true Christians (both past and present) meant that they ARE NOT interested in the welfare of their neighbors?

CERTAINLY NOT. They know well and conscientiously endeavor to apply the command repeated by Jesus:

“You MUST love your neighbor as yourself.”

- Matthew 22:39

Also the counsel recorded by the apostle Paul:

“Let us work what is good toward all, but especially toward those related to us in the faith.”

Galatians 6:10

They have been CONVINCED that the GREATEST GOOD that they can do for their neighbors IS TO SHARE WITH THEM THE GOOD NEWS OF GOD'S KINGDOM, WHICH WILL LASTINGLY SOLVE THE PROBLEMS FACING MANKIND and

***CONTINUED BELOW***
note who was first

the apostles. who is head of them? christ

1chor 11:3

But I want YOU to know that the head of every man is the Christ

and what did Christ say in Matthew 4:10 to Satan?

“Go away, Satan! For it is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service

sure, the governments are there, but god is above them, so im sticking with god :)

and besides all that 1 john 5:19 says that the world is in the power of the wicked one

and jesus said 1 john 17:14

I have given your word to them, but the world has hated them, because they are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.

and 16:

They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world.

and one more:

james 4:4

do YOU not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God
So you are thinking about running for office? You want us to vote for you is that it? Well, I will tell you a secret (it may not be secret to someone else) but you may not like it a bit. Each Witness has only one vote to cast. When s/he dedicated his/her life to serve Jehovah God and got baptized, s/he voted for Jehovah and his son Jesus to be King over us. Have you not read Daniel 2:44 and Matt 6:9-10?

Do you know what happen to those that go against God's arrangement? Do you think human politics, governments, and kings always good for humans? Through out history, many forms of government have tried to dominate man. Were death ever be fixed, humans free from diseases, hungers, killings, etc? Who started the idea of ruling others, was not Satan and then Nimrod? Human rulers are good only if they do it God's way.

Psa 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

Psa 2:3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

Psa 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Psa 2:5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Psa 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

Rev 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Who's side will you be on during Armageddon? God's side or Satan (and his rulers all the kings of the earth).
blame prince for jehovahs sake !!!
first of all they dont vote on elections or anything

Titus 3:1

1Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good,

yet, they do get tax refunds, medicare, and other normal citizen benefits from the US.

do you think thats hypocritical? I do

and in their ';religion'; they dont have any hierchy

they only have elders

Ephesians 4:11-12 (King James Version)

11And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

the only religion that has elders are the Jews

and guess what: Jehovah´s witnesses try everything to be just

like the Jews, even their kingdom halls are like sinagogs and they speak in front of the congregation like them

no pastors, no leader, everyone is allowed to preached

even if they are kids who dont know what they are talking about...

Christ set his rules for his body, and yet they rather follow what Jews do.

They claim that it is not good to have any hierchy because it tends to be problems because they give power to the leader... but arent we under the leadership of Christ?

we are Christians and we should know hot to handle power situations

we are all equal under God

so there shouldnt be a problem

God Bless You Always
