The early Christians had the Old Testament(Torah). The New Testament came later. The bible is the word of God, but the bible is NOT the only way God speaks. The bible must be interpreted. Christianity is founded on Jesus Christ; with scripture and tradition guiding it in truth..Does the evangelical conflict with evolution derive from the false doctrine of “Sola Scriptura”?
you are most likely hitting the nail on the head with that one.Does the evangelical conflict with evolution derive from the false doctrine of “Sola Scriptura”?
Stop promoting division among believers in Christ.
John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
John 17:21 that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
The bible is God's revealed Word. God's Word is Truth. Jesus said, ';I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through me.'; (John 14:6). God's Word, the bible, is the sole authority for Christian doctrine and the measuring rod by which all human ';tradition'; must be judged.
The evangelical conflict with evolution comes from a reasoned examination of the Scriptures and the claims of evolution, which clearly contradicts God's Word. One cannot logically hold faith in God and believe in evolution -- they are contradictory world views.
if “Sola Scriptura” is correct then one must stop with the torah... excluding the prophets and writing ... and definitely excluding the new testament
False doctrines? There are plenty coming out of the Catholic Church. Sola Scripture is NOT a false doctrine. If you read the bible you would know that is the ONLY Word of God. No man sitting on a man-made throne can take its place.
I think so.
Jesus didn't say that you need to believe in the literal Creation story to get into heaven.
