How is the false doctrine of the immortality of the soul related to the deception that mankind has free will?

Great question but I don't have answerHow is the false doctrine of the immortality of the soul related to the deception that mankind has free will?
The term ';immortal soul'; does not appear at all in the Scriptures of the Old or New Testament.

Genesis 2:7: ';Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living soul.'; The ';breath of life'; is simply air a mix of vital gases - blown by God into Adam's lungs through his nose. Without it we are dead flesh.

What is promised through Yeshua is resurrection. Death ends everything. We have no memories, no knowledge of what those still living are experiencing, no opportunity to praise God...Psalm 6:5, 146:4, 104:23-30, Eccles 9:5, Isaiah 63:16, Job 14:21.

I'll leave part 2, free will, for other answers. I am not a Calvinist and I believe in personal responsibility (free will).

EDIT: Ranger: Hi. If everything you think and do has been predetermined for you, to hold you responsible for what you do and punish you for it would be the height of injustice and outright hypocrisy.

I believe the moral value of taking personal responsibility is a gift of God - available to everyone. If everyone obeyed that moral guide, we would have no prisons. In fact, we'd be living pretty much in Eden. We choose obedience or disobedience.

Romans 2: 9-1 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality.

Ezekiel 18:31-32 Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit Why will you die, O house of Israel? 32 For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord GOD, so turn, and live.

Why would God exhort people to turn from sin if they cannot?

EDIT 2: Do what I say or die. Who wants to die? FIRST, you have to believe that's the offer. There are a lot of people out there who don't believe there's an offer on the table. So I guess there's a default in a sense and default is death. How is the false doctrine of the immortality of the soul related to the deception that mankind has free will?
They're not.

Immortality of the soul is not a Bible teaching. The Bible clearly teaches that when one dies they are not aware of anything. They go back to the ground from which they came.

On the other hand, free will is a gift from God.We all have the ability to choose right from wrong.Just as Adam and Eve did. They, however did not choose wisely and doomed mankind to enslavement to sin and death.
CMW pretty much said what I wanted to say. We have the free will to obey, or to go our own way. If we choose NOT to obey then we will suffer the consequences. Those consequences are DEATH.

Eternal life comes through our willingness to follow the Messiah and walk as He walked. He walked in obedience to the Torah, so we are kidding ourselves if we think we can walk in any other manner.

Free will is definitely there. I can choose to follow the desires of my flesh, or I can choose to take that higher path that leads to life. Yahweh doesn't decide this for us. He reveals Himself to us in such a way that to go awry from His leading is unthinkable. We obey because it seems asinine to us to go any other way. Our minds have been elevated, as haughty as that sounds, to a different reality. To deny that reality is not even an option for us. You know that.

Love ya, Ranger. Keep the hard questions coming!
The only connection I can see is that humans are presumed to have both of these while animals have neither - ie what makes us different from animals.

Illusion of free will we have always had and always will have - souls are just fiction invented to support the afterlife
Your Question is actually 2 Questions. The First I will agree with, that the concept of an Immortal soul is False. The idea that Man does not have Free will is false. We do. No one is forced to worship the Creator. We have a choice, the Bad choice comes with consequences. You cannot not worship God in spirit %26amp; truth and expect a Reward of life everlasting, that afterall would be oxymoronic.
YOU HAVE FREE WILL UP TO THE POINT IN TIME THAT ONE HAS WILLED HIS LIFE TO G-D. THE SPIRIT THAT G-D GIVES NEVER DIES FOR WHEN IT LEAVES US IT RETURNS TO THE ONE WHO SENT IT AND IT TAKES BOTH TO MAKE A LIVING CREATURE SOUL AND SPIRIT
