Because it is not in the Bible. Not even support for the idea.Trinity? False Doctrine? Why or why not? where did it originate...?
The false doctrine of the Trinity originated with the Council of Nice around 300 A.D.
There was a lot of argument about the body of God and what He is like. By a non-unanimous vote, this incomprehensible image of God became the accepted norm.
This is what the Bible says:
Acts 7:55-57 Stephen saw Jesus Christ and His father standing next to each other just BEFORE the mob took him out of the city to kill him. (This was not a dying vision.)
Matthew 3:13-17 Jesus' baptism. After He was baptized, the Holy Ghost descended in the form of a dove. His Father spoke from heaven, and called Jesus ';My Beloved Son';(not, ';This is Me';). All three members of the Godhead were there, distinctly different from each other, and not the same being.
In John chapter 17, Jesus prayed to His Father, He talked about His Father as another person who gave Him commandments. He also commanded us to pray to the Father in Jesus' name. He always said that He did His Father's will, not His own.
In John 17:21 He explained what being one with God means: being one in love, one in purpose, one in action. He also said that we are to be one with Him. This does not mean that we become Him, but that we try to become like Him.Trinity? False Doctrine? Why or why not? where did it originate...?
If you believe that the only source of Christian teachings is the Bible (as it currently exists) then I can see one saying that the doctrine of the trinity is a false doctrine.
To me, it is one way that humanity is trying to understand the nature of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. For a faith to be alive, it has to be re-examined to try to understand it in a current context. That doesn't mean you throw away the ';bottom line'; but it does mean you try to put that into ideas that make sense to you. (And ';making sense'; doesn't always mean logic.) So that doesn't make it false, but it doesn't make it the ultimate, pure truth either.
(When did the doctrine originate? oh heck, without looking it up, early on. I want to say somewhere around the 4th century.)
free2bfearless:
I have no idea where it originated, but it is false. I don't know where it originated, but all the scriptures quoted support Godhead. You are completely correct. I'll probably get a boatload of thumbs-down on this answer, but here's the deal:
The Godhead is the truth. 3 beings, who all work together for our benefit, provided we live righteously and are able to keep their constant guidance.
First, a note regarding the word ';Trinity';. Yes, you will not find the word trinity in the Bible. In fact, you will not even find the word ';Bible'; in the Bible. But that is not an issue. It is a word that abbreviates a concept. That concept being that God, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are three distinct personalities within a single Godhead. It is like the concept of light. Is there such a thing as white light? Yes. Does it exist as one light? Technically, no. It exists as a compound unity of equal illumination of red, green and blue spectrum. So white light does NOT exist? Of course it does. But in the form of three-in-one. Science can explain it, and we have just gotten used to it. In the eternal, such things are equally possible and exist. God is light, and in Him, there is no darkness at all. What color? I would say pure white.
Here are specific scriptures in both the Tonakh and the New Testament. Quotes are by God, Jesus, disciples and apostles.
A Child is to be born as a man who will be the Mighty God.
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Jehovah says that He and the coming Redeemer are eternal.
Isaiah 44:6
';Thus says YHWH, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer [Yeshua], the YHWH of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.'';
Jesus confirmed the above as well as His being the Almighty.
Revelation 1:8
Jesus said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Again, Who is the Redeemer? Who is the Savior? YHWH.
Isaiah 49:26
';All flesh shall know That I, YHWH, am your Savior, And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.';
Before He was born, Jesus identified the trinity.
Isaiah 48:16
';Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; From the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord GOD and His SPIRIT Have sent ME.';
Three distinct personalities are seen in Jesus' baptism.
Matthew 3:16
When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, ';This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.';
Jesus does not rebuke Thomas for calling Him God, but rather promises a blessing to those who would believe later.
John 20:28
And Thomas answered and said to Jesus, ';My Lord and my God!';
Jesus said to him, ';Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.';
Paul confirms that Jesus is God.
Titus 2:11-14
For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men... looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Jews sought to stone Jesus for claiming to be the eternal.
John 8
“Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.”
Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?”
Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”
Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
Jesus says that He and the Father are ONE (heis in Greek which means literally the number 1) Jews seek to stone Him for claiming to be God incarnate.
John 10
';I and My Father are one.';
Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him.
Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”
The Jews answered Him, saying, ';For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.';
****Important Note****
The whole reason the Jews sought to kill Jesus was because He, being a man, made Himself out to be God. If He was NOT God, then He was rightly put to death and was then a sacrifice WITH sin and blemish. Since He IS God, then His death was that of the Lamb WITHOUT spot or blemish.
To say it is not supported by scripture is to fall into extreme error and you will also have many contradictions to deal with. You will also have strange bedfellows who will support this error. http://schnebin.blogspot.com/2007/04/str…
I explain this and greater detail regarding the trinity in my study link below if you wish more detail on this question. http://www.schneblin.com/studies/pdfs/is…
You are seriously mistaken. The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is God (cf. John 8:58, 10:38, 14:10; Col. 2:9). It also clearly teaches that the Holy Spirit is God (cf. Acts 5:3–4, 28:25–28; 1 Cor. 2:10–13). Everyone agrees the Father is God. Yet there is only one God (Mark 12:29, 1 Cor. 8:4–6, Jas. 2:19).
Jesus tells his apostles to baptize ';in the name [notice, singular, not plural] of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit'; (Matt. 28:19). This is a proof-text: three distinct Persons united in the one divine name. In 2 Corinthians 13:14, Paul writes, ';The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.'; We see this same unity of divine Persons in 1 Corinthians 12:4–11, Ephesians 4:4–6, and 1 Peter 1:2–3.
The Christians know very well that the essence of Christianity, Trinity, is not there in the Bible. They will only show you disparate verses, that, when read together, with great difficulty, suggests ';trinity';. There are umpteen versions of Bible in the world. None has the word ';trinity'; in it.
It was invented by people who wanted to distract people from the teachings of Prophet Jesus (pbuh).
Which Bible are you reading from????????
References to the Trinity
A few verses directly reference the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit:
Matthew 28:19: ';Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit'; (see Trinitarian formula).
2 Corinthians 13:14: ';The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.';
1 John 5:7-8: ';For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.'; (This is the controversial Comma Johanneum, which did not appear in Greek texts before the sixteenth century.)
Luke 1:35: ';The angel answered and said to her, ';The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.';
[edit] Jesus as God
Many verses in John, the epistles, and Revelation imply support for the doctrine that Jesus Christ is God and the closely related concept of the trinity. The Gospel of John in particular supports Jesus' divinity. This is a partial list of supporting Bible verses:
John 1:1 ';In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.'; together with John 1:14 ';The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.'; and John 1:18 ';No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.';
John 5:21 ';For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives them life to whom he is pleased to give it.';
John 8:23-24: ';You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am [the one I claim to be], you will indeed die in your sins.';
John 8:58 ';I tell you the truth,'; Jesus answered, ';before Abraham was born, I am.';[13]
John 10:30: ';I and the Father are one.';
John 10:38: ';But if I do it, even though you do not believe me, believe the miracles, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.';
John 12:41: ';Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus' glory and spoke about him.';—As the context shows, this implied the Tetragrammaton in Isaiah 6:10 refers to Jesus.
John 20:28: ';Thomas said to him, 'My Lord and my God!'';
Philippians 2:5-6: ';Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God,';
Colossians 2:9: ';For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form';
Titus 2:13: ';while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.';
Hebrews 1:8: ';But about the Son he [God] says: ';Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.';
1.John 5:20: ';We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.';
Revelation 1:17-18: ';When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: ';Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.'; This is seen as significant when viewed with Isaiah 44:6: ';This is what the LORD says—Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty: I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.';
The Bible also refers to Jesus as a man, which is in line with the Trinitarian concept that Jesus was fully human as well as fully divine.
[edit] God alone is the Savior and the Savior is Jesus
The Old Testament identifies the LORD as the only savior, and the New Testament identifies Jesus Christ as God and Savior. These verses are consistent with Trinitarianism, as well as various nontrinitarian beliefs (binitarianism, modalism, the Latter-Day Saints' godhead, Arianism, etc.).
Isaiah 43:11: I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.
Titus 2:10: and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
Titus 3:4: But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared in regard with:
Luke 2:11: Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
Titus 2:13: while we wait for the blessed hope, the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ
John 4:42: They said to the woman, ';We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man [Jesus] really is the Savior of the world.';
Titus 3:6: whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Matt 28:19 says to baptize in the name of all three
I cannot find direct, literal evidence of a trinity in the Bible as dictated by the Nicene Creed. I do, however, find ample and numerous the evidence that there is a ';Godhead,'; or three personages that make up this Godhead. That is, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Every reference I know of speaks of these three as three distinct personages.
There is No Trinity
as brief as I can:
A Trinitarion concept contends that the Father, Son and Holy Ghost are one in holiness, love, glory, wisdom and eternal power; but, three in Person. No Scripture can be found to support such a concept.
There is ONE GOD and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and IN YOU ALL. Eph. 4:6. There is only ONE GOD manifested in the flesh and received in the hearts of believers today.
The angel announced, ';For unto you is born this day.. .0 Saviour, which is CHRIST THE LORD.'; Luke 2:11. Throughout the Old Testament God is also called the Lord. Compare the following:
The Lord God is the Creator. Is. 42:5.
The Lord Jesus is the Creator. John 1:3, 10.
The Lord God said, ';I am He.'; Is. 43:10.
The Lord Jesus said, ';I am He.'; John 8:24.
The Lord God is the only Saviour. Is. 43:10, 11.
The Lord Jesus is the Saviour. Titus 1:4.
The Lord God shall reign forever. P5. 146:10.
The Lord Jesus reign forever. Luke 1 :33.
The Lord God is the King of Israel. Is. 43:15.
The Lord Jesus is the King of Israel. Matt. 27:37.
The Lord God is the First and the Lost. Is. 44:6.
The Lord Jesus is the First and the Last. Rev. 1:8.
The Lord God is Almighty. Gen. 17:1.
The Lord Jesus is Almighty. Rev. 1:8.
There is only one Lord. Eph. 4:5. When Paul was struck down on the road to Damascus, he cried, ';Who art thou, Lord?'; And the Lord said, ';I AM JESUS.'; Acts 9:5. Beyond a shadow of a doubt the Lord God Jehovah of the Old Testament is the Lord Jesus Christ of the New Testament!
The question may be asked, ';Is Jesus in the Godhead, or is the Godhead in Jesus?'; If the Godhead is in Jesus, there can only be one Person. The Bible clearly states, ';For IN HIM (Christ) DWELLETH all the FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY. And ye are COMPLETE IN HIM, which is the HEAD OF ALL PRINCIPALITY AND POWER.'; Col. 2:9, 10. So there is only ONE PERSON in which the Godhead is manifested, because the GODHEAD IS IN JESUS!
God, the eternal Spirit, is ';Omni-present'; - everywhere at the same time. There is only ONE SPIRIT. Eph. 4:4. ';For by ONE SPIRIT are we all baptized into one body...'; 1 Cor. 12:13. The Bible proves that the ONE Spirit is the Holy Ghost. ';This spake He (Jesus) of the SPIRIT, which they that believe on Him should receive: far the HOLY GHOST was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.'; John 7:39.
Yes, the term trinity is no where in the Bible, but you cannot say ';Not even support for the idea'; is in the Bible.
Read the New Testament again, especially the gospel of John.
There is support for the idea through out the whole N.T.
There are too many references to list.
How about the baptizing of Christ for one. The Father spoke from heaven, the Spirit of God rested on Christ as a dove. Christ said I and the Father are one. I could go on for a while.
It originated with pagan teachings. Christians adopted it so pagans be more interested in christian religion
Well, I don't see anything for you to pick a best answer from, so I'll help you out by giving you what you want to hear:
You're right. The ';trinity'; is a false doctrine created in the Middle Ages by misogynists who wanted only to subjugate women and kill non-believers.
That work for you?
answer,,,,,, just because you say its not in the BIBLE .LISTEN,,,, GOD THE FATHER , THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT IS THREE IN ON [WHICH IS TRINITY] IAMEN
Hello everybody!
There is alot of confussion about trinity, the good thing is: we all believe in the Holy Bible, right?
Doesn't exist in the whole bible about ';trinity'; ( the word) even alot of the answers talk about three differents personages. The Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit but in the same way talk about three in one.
o.k this is just my 2 cents.
Acts. 7: 55-56
Stephen was preaching the gospel.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus estanding on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
I hope this will answer your question, or put in clear their beliefs. I think is really clear unless somebody will think that stephen was drunk or in drugs. Anyways if you believe in the Bible and think is the word of the Lord you'll know there is not Trinity.
I respect your believes, peace brothers!
