What if the ';test'; of a Christian's goodness is his/her ability to reject the false doctrine of an evil god?

Christianity generally postulates that a Christian is ';tested'; by the world around him/her, and that god notices when the Christian ';does the right thing'; as opposed to the wrong thing.

Jesus makes some pretty broad statements in the Bible about love and spending time with sinners, but many Christians nonetheless focus upon a concept of God-as-Tyrant, with a god that tortures people for eternity for actions done in the eyeblink timespan of a human life....

This version of god is really no more than a re-imagining of every other petty overlord that has troubled history- torturing political dissidents, assassinating enemies, demanding conformity to completely arbitrary rules (as well as some that are not) and basically being completely unworthy of being anyone's leader.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't believe in *any* form of the Abrahamic deity, and never have, but if I was setting up a monotheistic empire founded on that love and spending time with sinners and ';doing to the least of my brothers'; stuff, it seems to me that the IDEAL test of whether or not someone ';got'; that love stuff was to present him/her with a theology like the god-as-tyrant one and see if s/he had the smarts to reject it.

So, what if the Christian deity's ';final exam'; for people is really to see if they would worship a jerk? Would the best of Christians throughout history pass the test? Would the loudest of Christians today? What if the ';test'; of a Christian's goodness is his/her ability to reject the false doctrine of an evil god?
i think that people are too stubborn to really think about it like that and if it started to catch on, it probably would be rejected. it seems probabal though. What if the ';test'; of a Christian's goodness is his/her ability to reject the false doctrine of an evil god?
salvation isn't believing in some ';true doctrine';exam.

Romans 10 explains salvation.
interesting.. i'm pretty sure 100% would get an F

i like sappho, the lesbian
this might be a test, so i reject your doctrine
Jesus went among sinners in order to either heal them or bring them salvation, not because of friendships or social entertainment.

I personally and respectfully invite you to show me one single passage in which Jesus instructed Christians to ';spend time with sinners';.

In fact, He instructed us to carry His message to those who would hear and to ';shake the dust from our feet'; of those who would not.

I have been here on this site long enough to recognize your name and to know that you are not a Christian, and I am quite content to leave you as you are.........but do not think that you can tell me that Jesus said to ';do this';, when I know that He did not.

Do not think that all of your eloquent words and arguments are not self destructing when you refer to Jesus as a ';jerk';.

And above all, please do not make the mistake of thinking that Christians need your approval. We have our salvation already.
Maybe not a test at all, but a brilliant plan to something that wants power. If I were the other side of the good that created all I would show up when they were gone and claim to be them, little by little becoming the very thing that the ultimate should not be and confusing humans by claiming to be the CREATOR and ONE.

If people think that the loving god is capable to have a wrath, then people cannot see that the tyrant is a dog...When I think of LORD God who shows up in Genesis 2:4 after God rests on the seventh day I think of Lord Vader.
