How do you define ';false doctrine';?

Doesn't this just boil down to opinions and interpretations?





Catholics get this phrase thrown at the the most often, usually by fundies who are convinced they're right and the others are wrong. It seems to me to be an arrogant choice of phrase since it claims to be right and can't be proven as such.How do you define ';false doctrine';?
Kevin, fundamentalists have an irrational hatred of Catholics (and also of atheists such as I). Much of it is because the two groups disagree on many points, but I believe it goes deeper. Fundamentalists know--or should know--that the Catholic Church is the mother church of all Christian denominations. From ex cathedra to excommunication to exorcism, the Roman Catholic Church gets the greatest press coverage and certainly has the most prestige. Additionally, fundamentalists nurse persecution complexes, which explains their many baseless proclamations such as ';Liberals are waging a war against Christians!'; The green-eyed monster, I suspect, has far more to do with the fundamentalists' attitude than any other single factor.How do you define ';false doctrine';?
Anything that teaches something else besides love of God and other people -- all people, not just the ones who share my opinions and beliefs.





Yep, I freely admit that this is my interpretation of scriptures like John 13:34 -- ';I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.';





It seems so obvious to me, but I recognize that there are many here on R%26amp;S who don't seem to share my believe that love is a priority.
false doctrine is that which teaches what is not supported by fact or any teaching that is perverted for means other than it's original truth





as in creationism and how christians teach god hates gays because of leviticus. jesus taught love they nieghbor and helped the samaratan on the sabbath yet the same christians who teach god is all loving scream this doesn't apply to you if your gay or have an abortion.

I define false doctrine as ';the torah';, ';the koran';, and ';the bible';
usually a doctrine that has nothing to back it up.

A false doctrine is one that disagrees with one's preconceived notions and unexamined prejudices.
False doctrine is something that goes clearly against the teachings of the Bible.

It is not just individual Catholics it is Catholic dogma that calls other Christians heretics, if you read their official writings.
