I've read the scriptures that people use to try and prove and it doesn't jive. Actually, it is stretching it a bit.
Not only that, it doesn't jive with the rest of the teachings in the new testament.
When we die, we die and wait for the resurrection. If we live, then well we don't die the first death. Jesus comes back to earth, not, Jesus and raptured people.
Agree or Disagree? Is the rapture false doctrine?
Yes, the Rapture is false doctrine -- and so are some of the answers below!
Another word for Rapture is Darbyism -- begun in the 1800's by a man named Darby.
As far as 1 Thes. 4:17 goes, notice that Paul uses the word ';we'; as in ';....we who are alive';....this indicates that Paul fully expected to be part of that group....but was wrong. Anytime you use the word ';we'; it implies a group that INCLUDES the speaker. In fact, in 2 Thes. after Paul realizes his error, he tells the people to get back to work! In 1 Cor. 7:29-31, he tells people not to marry or anything else because he feels the lord is coming soon. Hasn't happened yet!!!!!!!!
29What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none; 30those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; 31those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.
Now go to 2 Cor. 5:8....Paul does NOT say that ';absent from the body is at home with Lord';. He says that he PREFERS to be ';away from the body and at home with the Lord';. One does not necessarily follow the other. Can there be a purgatory? ';Nothing impure can see God';. Yes, God can forgive my sins at the minute of death -- this does NOT mean that he has taken away my ability -- free will/choice -- to sin....otherwise we'd all be puppets! See 1 Corinthians 3: 13his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. 14If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. 15If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only AS ONE ESCAPING THROUGH THE FLAMES';.Is the rapture false doctrine?
Didn't anyone tell you, the rapture happened last week. Jesus came and took all the worthy people to heaven.
All the Buddhists are gone.
Love and blessings Don
True the rapture is a false doctrine, yes, Jesus comes back to earth but, not as a human, he comes back, invisablly, as the designate King of God's Kingdom, a political force that is heavenly, not earthly. It is a true government, and like any government it has rules for being a part of it. When Jesus came back, he began by judging the organizations the claim to worship him and his Father. Those he finds that are not telling the truth about him and his father will be done away with, at his Father's chosing the false religious organizations will be destroyed, along with all the governments of the world. And all those The Father deems evil. Then Jesus will resurrect people from the grave, [hell,Sheol,Hades, etc.] those who did bad things, to a judgement, those who worshiped him and his Father, to the possibility of living forever. After 1,000 years Satan will be loosed from the pit for a ';little while'; those who remain faithful will then live forever, and those who do not, will suffer the second death.
I agree. Also, flesh and blood can not enter into the Kingdom of God. The Rapture was a doctrine that came about just a hundred years ago or so. People are always trying to help God out with their own version of the scriptures. The word Rapture does not even appear in the bible.
disagree what who why that should cover it
The word rapture is not found in either old or new testament and it is not false doctrine! Rapture means to be snatched out!Enoch and Elijah are fore runners of what 1st Corinthians 15, 1st Thessalonians 5 and quite a few other scripture references teach. Jesus is only coming for those who are looking for His return!
First I don't agree with the word since it isn't Biblical.
The concept may be partially true, but we don't really know what will happen.
It's a new age term that comes from a 15 year old Scottish girl named Margaret MacDonald and it was popularized by a New Age evangelical in 1860, thus it could be a buzz word or sound bite tool.
When I see people speak of the rapture it reminds me of the LSD girls I used to see in the 60s with their beads, long dresses, etc.
That used that kind of a term for sex, drugs and music.
We won't know until it doesn't happen. Where will you be when the vultures fly over the valley at Armageddon?
mane from my point of view the rapture is when everyone dies from viruses, diesieses, man vs. man, man vs nature, man vs self. and jesus is comeing back to get married witch he didnt do
For the record, the word ';rapture'; comes from the Latin word ';rapturo,'; which in turn was a translation of the Greek verb ';caught up'; found in 1 Thes 4:17. You can call it the pre-trib rapture, the pre-trib rapturo, or the pre-trib caught up--it's all the same thing.
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord
Disagree....If you re-read 1Thes 4 you will notice that JESUS meets the saints in the air not on the earth... also see the book of Jude, verse 14 and 15....also 1Thes 5:9 declares that believers in CHRIST are not appointed to wrath... during the tribulation the wrath of GOD is poured out upon the earth, see Rev 6:16-17. Whether the rapture (being ';caught up';) is pre trib or mid trib is not important, but it is definitely going to happen before the wrath of GOD is poured out upon the earth as I have shown through the scriptures...
~GOD BLESS YOU AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH~
HIGHLY AGREE! In Eze God says He's AGAINST those who teach His souls to fly to save their souls....... Christ The Messiah is returning here to gather His own, but there's no fly away. The real deception will be on those who follow that false Christ ,..aka satan himself who appears first to deceive the world. When the true Christ returns,....ALL will be changed,..meaning that all will be spiritual beings and there will be no more flesh vessels.
I believe in the Raptue. The word used may be something that was made by man but many versus in the old Testment (Daniel and Isaiah) that support this. Just like Jesus' life was coved in whole by not one but buy using all 4 Gospils I think you can use the verse's in those books to draw a sound conclusion. Also in Revelation's if seems that the Church is not mentioned after like a 3rd or 4th chapter. It is funny how it is mentiond all throught the bible but when we get to that area in time that seems to be supported by verses in Daniel and Isaiah that the Church is not mentioned. I think that shows GOOD proff that the Church could be ';caught up';.
No - if you read your Holy Bible - KJV - the book of Revelation it will explain everything to you about the Rapture!@~
Not all shall die, but in a moment (a twinkle of an eye) we shall be changed.
Actually, the Scripture speaks of the Rapture receiving the believers, both living and dead. The Second Coming at the end of the Tribulation period speaks of His return with '; a great cloud of witnesses';. Ever wonder who those witnesses might be? If only unbelievers and converts after the Rapture are the only ones inhabiting Earth during the tribulation, it only stands to reason that these ';witnesses'; are the believers who were raptured! Granted, there are people on this earth alive today that will NEVER know what it means to die physically, for they will be translated much like Enoch and Elijah were in the OT because the Scripture speaks of how ';corruptible flesh cannot put on incorruption'; and must therefore be give ';glorified'; bodies to be able to enter into God's presence.
you have it a bit mixed up..
the bible teaches that when we die, we go to heaven the moment we close our eyes in death.. ';Absent from the body, is present with the Lord';. our souls go directly to heaven, our bodies go to the ground, and when the rapture takes place the bible says that the dead shall rise first.. this means their bodies are taken up to RE-JOIN their souls. their bodies will be transformed into glorified bodies.. and those of us that are alive and remain are taken up in the air to meet the Lord.
Sorry, there is no secret rapture in all of the Bible. Satan delights in the way some learned fellow carves a scripture out of context and builds a doctrine that the Christian world swallows hook, line and sinker. Jesus will come again and very soon. But it will not be in secret. In fact it will be a very visible and noisy event.
Saying you don't believe in the the rapture because it actually doesn't say that in the bible is like JW's saying they don't believe in the Trinity, because the bible never uses that word. I have been watching these boards for awhile and I get so tired of having to defend my belief and the bible. So it comes down to this for you...would you rather spend your life, living good for all to see, for God that will reward you when the time comes; or would you rather spend your time living for Satan, being thrown into the Lake of Fire when the time comes. It's going to be one or the other. I would rather be wrong when I die, finding out that there is no God vs. dying a sinful life, not believing, finding out I was wrong and there is a God. It is your free-will, but I do hope you chose to be a brother or sister in Christ.
I regard most of Christianity as false doctrine although the rapture is probably one of the more outlandish beliefs.
