YES!
The church dogma of the ';trinity'; was the work of 3 centuries and was accomplished in the Nicean age; in the Apostolic fathers we find for the most part only the simple biblical statement of the deity and humanity of Christ.
The Apostolic Church taught the revelation of God throughout the Mediterranean area, and it is significant that at the end of the Apostolic era, we find no trace of Trinitarianism--but we do find the concept of one God in three manifestations, later called Modalistic Monarchianism. Is trinitarianism a false doctrine?
Illogical (by what we call logic), perhaps. False- no.
But when dealing with God, logic doesn't really work well. But there are a myriad of things in life that logic doesn't work on. God is one of those things.
To believe in God is illogical from a certain point of view- but I choose to believe, nonetheless. Is trinitarianism a false doctrine?
Yes, the word is not in the Bible. Jesus talks about worshipping God, not Himself. The simplest way to explain this is that there are three entities or personalities or manifestations. Each is in a concentric circle with the Father the largest circle, Jesus second largest and the Holy Spirit inside both circles. Each entity has different names. The Holy Spirit (no other names listed besides Holy Ghost) is the energizing force. There are differences in roles between Christ Jesus and Jehovah the Father. Jesus stated, ';The Father is greater than I am.'; (John 14:28). We know this because Jesus said no one knows the end of the eon (Greek) except the Father. Also, someone asked Him if their son could sit at the Father's right hand. Jesus replied that is not his to give, but the Father. The Bible lists 127 names of the Father. They primarily stem from Jehovah.
Jesus role was to create all things and he is ';the way, the truth, and the life'; (John 14:6). He is simply the first creation--God's son Jeshua.
This is the explanation in brief. The trinity doctrine comes from Hindu and Egyptian trios. Finally, the three entities are in agreement( l John 5). This was a controversy all the way up to 322 AD. The First Council of Niceae decided falsely, contrary to Jesus' own words for a trinity. We must rely on Jesus and His authority and WHAT HE SAID.
No.
Our teacher of these things is Jesus Christ, who also was born for this purpose, and was crucified under Pontius Pilate, procurator of Judea, in the times of Tiberius Caesar; and that we reasonably worship Him, having learned that He is the Son of the true God Himself, and holding Him in the second place, and the prophetic Spirit in the third, we will prove.'; Justin Martyr, First Apology, 13 (A.D. 155).
';[T]he ever-truthful God, hast fore-ordained, hast revealed beforehand to me, and now hast fulfilled. Wherefore also I praise Thee for all things, I bless Thee, I glorify Thee, along with the everlasting and heavenly Jesus Christ, Thy beloved Son, with whom, to Thee, and the Holy Ghost, be glory both now and to all coming ages. Amen.'; Martyrdom of Polycarp 14 (A.D. 157).
Rev. 4:9-11; 5:8,12-14; 7:11-12 - both Jesus and the Father are worshiped. The Greek word for worship is ';proskuneo'; which always means the worship of God.
Matt. 2:2,11 - the magi who came to see the newborn Jesus came to worship Him.
Matt. 8:2 - a leper came to Jesus and worshiped Him without rebuke.
Matt. 14:33 - the apostles who were in the boat worshiped Jesus without rebuke.
Matt. 28:9 - Jesus' disciples took His feet and worshiped Him without rebuke.
Matt. 28:17 - Jesus' disciples saw Him and then worshiped Him.
Mark 5:6 - the man with the unclean spirit ran to Jesus and worshiped Him.
Luke 1:11 - Mary accepts Elizabeth's declaration ';the Mother of my Lord'; = the Mother of my God (Elizabeth used the word ';Adonai'; which means ';Lord God';).
Luke 24:52 - as Jesus ascended into heaven, the apostles worshiped Him.
John 9:38 - the blind man who was cured by Jesus worshiped Him.
John 20:28 - Jesus accepts Thomas' statement ';My Lord and my God!'; Literally, ';the Lord of me and the God of me!'; (in Greek, ';Ho Kurios mou kai ho Theos mou';).
the bible leaves it up to debate. there are verses which tend to deny a trinity and verses which tend to support it. so its a yes/no.
I know it is, but you can make up your own mind. I would go to www.watchtower.org and find the truth about the trinity.
no its not
it was accepted as law until the counsel was called to condemn the heresy of denying the trinity
Well, three into one don't go in anyone's math class!
If it is then the bible would be false.
By all means.
Yes.
Of course not
Whether you call it doctrine or something else, trinity is the revelation of God as to His own nature. There is no way that a mere human intelligence can know or verify if it is true or not. This revelation from God has to be accepted by faith.
Any theistic doctrine unsupported by valid evidence would have to be considered untrue.
Wait, that would mean all of them.
As opposed to what, Unitarianism? The infamous UUs?
All doctrine is false.
