What did Jesus do when he came across false doctrine and hypocrisy?

And what should we do when we come across false doctrine and hypocrisy?What did Jesus do when he came across false doctrine and hypocrisy?
Jesus came across false doctrine all the time. One tactic he used was to deal with people on the basis of their own beliefs. Even if they were wrong, he sometimes used their own (wrong) arguments to show up their error, e.g. quoting the Psalm that called men 'gods' to stop them objecting to Jesus being called God's Son. But most of the time he asked questions and told stories. He did not call the crowds 'false' because they were knocked about and misled. He felt sorry for them.

His wrath was reserved for religious hypocrites. When they were correct he told people to do what they taught but NOT to do what they did! But as Jesus could read peoples' hearts - a divine prerogative which we don't have - we must be careful. All of us are hypocrites in some respects, all of us entertain false beliefs in some respects. We should copy Jesus by asking thought-provoking questions and providing thought-provoking comments / illustrations to get people considering the wisdom of God in Christ. And then pray the Holy Spirit will convict people.What did Jesus do when he came across false doctrine and hypocrisy?
I'm glad some of you weren't my Christian contacts. The people who helped me come to Christ wer'e unbelievably patient and loving, even with someone as unlovable as me! Remember those who are struggling with the lord need you.

Jesus knew when to speak and when to be silent.

';Do not give your pearls to the swine.';
He exposed it. That's what I try to do. :)

In HIS Grace,

Kimberly

aka ';Blessed';

Raised Jehovah's Witness

';Wanna-be'; Atheist for 6 years

Now Christian, Anti-Cult Activist
He blasted them...especially in Matt. 23:15...We have authority to call false prophets to the plate and not only that we can mock their gods like Elijah did. We can also call them vipers
He told them the truth - they are hypocrites.

I was adopted but I met my biological parents in my early teens- (theyre not together). My biological father is a minister.....He claims to be a full throttle Christian. He is very rude to his wife, makes her walk to work because he believes women shouldnt work, he hid me from her because I was proof that he cheated, he never tells his kids he raised that he loves them but he tells me etc. the list goes on.

Now, it was a disapointment to learn that he actually isnt living his life the way God says to. As a follower of Christ, it is not my place to tell him he is wrong, nor is it my place to judge him...(we are all still sinners) but. it IS my place to pray for him. I pray that he gains an understanding of his wrong doings and I pray that he gains enough courage to admit them to himself, his wife and most importantly, to God.

When we come across hypocrites, we must pray for them :)
He dealt with it, he told them what the truth is.
Jesus stopped that kind of behavior- see ';let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone'; and throwing the moneychangers out of the temple. He'd have a heyday with these absurd megachurches and televangelists, the politicization of his religion and the horrible things people do in his name. That and George W. lying about talking to him.
He called them a ';brood of vipers'; who did not practise what they preached
When he found out, he actually left the Jehovah's Witnesses and became a deist
well they always wanted to talk to Jesus to hear his opinion, wether they agreed with him or not. He knew they already knew what he stood for because they stood in the crowds and listened to him teach the multitude. So when they were asking they were hoping to trip him up or find something to use against him, so when jesus answered he he turned there tactics against them. When Jesus was fed up enough he showed his anger, like when he turned over tables in the temple. because he said they were making God's house a den of thieves, I feel God knows the necesitty of war at times, but since we are in time of grace, we are taught at children of God to walk in peace, turn the other cheek stuff like that, but there is a limit and wisdom in the limits

good question.
Most of the time he found a way to teach correct principles such that his followers would recognize the truth in what he was saying. Occasionally he was more direct and critical, like when he called the Pharisees ';whited sepulcres';, or denounced the practice of men putting away their wives to get around the law.
Note: Observe the condition one must be in, in order to administer these commandments, Galatians 6:1 ';...ye which are spiritual..';.If your not lead of the Spirit to do these things then we ourselves need to resort to Matthew 7:5 and remove the beam out of our own eye first, Then we can see ';clearly'; how to help our brother.

Matthew 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

Matthew 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

Matthew 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Titus 1:13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

2Thessalonians 3:14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.

Galatians 6:1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
He was an impassive man endowed with both conception of and incise perception into truth. Such individuals do not trifle falsehoods. They are eagles, not doves. They may be given to the quietude but are not retiring. Usually, just usually, the most gentle of beings are the most powerful.
Amongst the Jews who claimed to be God's people, although they practiced lawlessness, He chastised, and literally opposed them.With non Jews who we're unaware of God, he taught them, and loved them, and healed them. Their we're also people described as those casting out demons and healing people in Christ's name, under false pretenses. To this he said, ';Those who are with us cannot be against us';. I believe he wanted to help them all. These methods, although different we're employed to reach the same goal. Not premeditated, but rather divinely inspired, one day at a time!
